The Vancouver Sun this week is running a feature on the future of Metro’s water supply, which is particularly timely after this summer’s severe drought. Inside A Rainwater Harvesting Project in Anmore, BC
University Sprinklers’ resident Rainwater Harvesting guru, Whalen Bishop, recently completed an interesting residential rainwater harvesting system project in Anmore, BC (outside of Coquitlam). Five tanks are being used to supply a high efficiency irrigation system, plus all of the water taps on the outside of the house. A sixth tank will be used as a catchment and holding tank for a feature waterfall.
Rainwater Harvesting is an insurance policy against watering restrictions, both present and future, as both recycled and greywater are exempt from restrictions in Metro’s Water Shortage Response Plan.
