This new rainwater cistern and pad were just installed at a University Sprinklers irrigation client’s home in Abbotsford. The system “harvests” rainwater from the roof of the house, and saves it for irrigation purposes. Each tank holds about 600 gallons, and the system should save the homeowner and the Mission-Abbotsford Water District over 50 cubic meters of water per year. This translates into dollar savings, too, for the homeowner, because homes in Abbotsford are on a metered water system, and pay per use.
Additionally, the homeowner’s drip irrigation system is fed by a solar-powered pump, making the system even more environmentally friendly.
