If you read the front page story in the Vancouver Sun this morning you might be concerned about increased water restrictions, and water conservation with respect to your irrigation system. As we all should be, as good citizens and neighbours! Our message to you is “Keep Calm and Carry On”. Metro has more reservoirs than they have ever had in the past, including the enormous Coquitlam Reservoir. Metro has a sound water shortage response plan in place, and it has been twelve years since we have seen a complete prohibition on lawn sprinkling, which lasted only two weeks, in August of 2003.
However, it is important to conserve water. Set your sprinkler timer to meet the watering restriction schedule in your municipality, and remember this:
- Rotating-style heads will require a total of 2 hours of watering per week
- Spray-style heads will need a total of 20-30 minutes per week.
Not sure how to set your timer? See our links to irrigation control timer manuals here.
